Department Description:

ZSFG is dedicated to providing services that integrates medical, psychiatric, and addiction treatment. SFGH is the largest provider of acute psychiatric care and the only San Francisco provider of psychiatric emergency care. The UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship (PPF) at SFGH (http://ppf.ucsf.edu/) aims to promote a culture of patient-centered care and data-driven public-academic partnerships. The mission of the PPF is to train the next generation of public mental health care leaders who will provide excellent patient-centered care to vulnerable populations with severe mental illness through: 1) understanding and implementing relevant, evidence-based psychosocial rehabilitation and psychopharmacological treatments, 2) promoting recovery, and 3) developing rewarding public-academic partnerships to examine their work.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the incumbent will provide research and administrative assistance to the UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship (PPF). The incumbent will assist with gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data for research projects in the PPF. The incumbent will conduct literature reviews, complete IRB applications, and other regulatory applications, draft and edit abstracts, and prepare scientific posters. The incumbent will work with faculty and fellows to draft, edit, and submit manuscripts to peer reviewed journals. The incumbent will also provide administrative support to the fellowship, including maintaining websites; preparing hand-outs; and assisting with scheduling fellowship speakers; making room reservations; and setting up audio/visual equipment for presentations.

    YesUnder direct supervision, assist in the collection and organization of research data for PPF projects. Complete IRB and regulatory applications; conduct literature reviews; prepare figures for data visualization; perform basic statistical analysis. Assist with the development of the UCSF Public Psychiatry Fellowship (PPF) surveys; distribute survey(s) and maintain databases; perform statistical analysis and summary of results. Develops knowledge in the areas of data storage, documentation, analysis, and dissemination of data.

    YesProvide administrative support to the fellowship, including preparation of handouts; IT set-up for presentations; act as liaison to clinic sites in preparing data use agreements and other regulatory documentation for research projects; maintain and update CLE and PPF recruitment website in accordance with UCSF digital and editorial policies and UCSF brand identity standards as posted at identity.ucsf.edu; scheduling for PPF director; scheduling/coordinating PPF speakers and events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, sociology, epidemiology or related area; and / or equivalent experience / training
  • College coursework in public health, psychology, or related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work effectively in team-based environment; ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines
  • Excellent academic writing and editing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software (i.e. Stata; SPSS; R; etc.)
  • Ability to work with and troubleshoot A/V hardware and software.
  • Ability to work with electronic data collection tools (i.e. REDcap; Qualtrics; Survey Monkey)
  • Knowledge of design software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; Power Point; etc.)
