What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse OB/GYN Fertility position at University of California - San Francisco?
Under general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the Center for Reproductive Health (CRH) and UCSF Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Clinical Nurse role crosses care settings to promote health and healing for a specific patient population. The primary focus of the role is to improve access, timeliness to treatment and care coordination within the healthcare organization. The Clinical Nurse performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients. The Clinical Nurse collaborates with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team in providing excellent clinical care to all patients attending CRH for medical services and treatment. The Clinical Nurse consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor.
The Clinical Nurse will assess health needs and perform functions specific to routine and assisted reproductive techniques including but not limited to: andrology, gynecological treatments, in vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedures, fertility preservation patients (oncology and gender transition), PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome), endometriosis, and male urology patients (micro-surgical sperm extraction). The Clinical Nurse will assess patient needs and develop appropriate plans of care according to nursing practice standards as well as evaluating and participating in care for patients/couples during their reproductive health treatments, office visits and IVF cycles. They will utilize specialized knowledge and skills for evaluation and teaching within this patient population, and may act as a resource person within the organization and/or community.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Expert skills in data analysis, project management, facilitating group work, and working in a hospital environment with systems improvement.
- Skills in statistical data analysis.
- Expert knowledge of clinical quality-of-care issues and patient safety methodologies, tools, regulatory requirements, and policies.
- Highly developed skills and expertise in project management, with demonstrated ability to initiate projects and lead teams, prioritize tasks, and direct projects successfully from inception to completion on task and on schedule.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with a broad range of clinical and technical staff, representatives of external regulatory agencies, and mentoring staff.
- Highly developed ability to effectively convey the most complex clinical, technical, and educational information both verbally and in writing, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations.
- Expert knowledge of various clinical and business software packages and of the specialized applications and data management programs used in patient safety and quality improvement systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a large multi facility health system/ academic institution
- Master's degree or equivalent in a healthcare related profession including nursing, public health, healthcare administration, or other relevant field.
- Lean/Six Sigma
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
License/Certification:
- Bachelors degree in nursing or health discipline, or licensed clinician in the State of California (e.g. Nursing, Pharmacy, Respiratory, Physical Therapist)
