Job Description
The Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will join an existing team of highly skilled APPs in the care of patients requiring specialized cardiac care. Under the supervision of the Clinical Chief of Inpatient Cardiology, APP Manager for Inpatient Cardiology and the Director of the Heart and Vascular Center. The Cardiology APP will have a critical role in the inpatient setting, with both team member and individual duties. These responsibilities will include acute care management as well as pre and post procedural patient examination and assessment, diagnosis, and management of care including but not limited to diagnosis; management, treatment implementation, coordination and continuity of care, development of practice protocols and education of patients, families and other health care practitioners. May be asked to perform consults. The Cardiology APP will manage patients cooperatively with esteemed cardiology faculty to provide care, facilitate diagnostic testing and intervention, and coordinate a comprehensive discharge. Prior cardiology APP experience required as this is a high volume, high acuity service. Must have ability to practice autonomously and as a part of the larger team at various campus as needed
Qualifications
Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).

Qualifications

Minimum License/Certification
- California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction
- National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- California Driver License (if required for position)
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Additional required AHA certifications: ACLS
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by health care providers and team members
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
- Submit health plan (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial for all APPs; also, CCS for pediatric providers) enrollment by first clinical day
- At all times, must adhere to the UCSF Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct, PRIDE values, and applicable medical center/campus/departmental policies and procedures
- At all times, must adhere to all UCSF policies regarding HIPPA, privacy, communication, documentation, encounter closure, and billing
- Mandatory attendance at the Office of Advanced Practice Providers Orientation Sessions
- Mandatory attendance at the APP Onboarding Committee APP Onboarding Series
- This position requires flexibility for the APP to work at all UCSF Health facilities/locations
- Performs other duties as assigned
