Pediatric Speech Pathologist II

The Staff Speech Language Pathologist, Speech Pathologist II, reports to the Rehab Service Manager and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Staff Speech Language Pathologist II works primarily with pediatric and adolescent patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although adult patients may also be treated. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Staff Speech Language Pathologist II plans and administers a full range of speech therapy services for patients who are deaf and hard of hearing. Services include patient evaluations using speech language pathology tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech language pathology scope of practice.


Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of a degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited professional educational program.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience as a licensed therapist.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to recognize signs of distress.
  • Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
  • Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
  • Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior speech language pathology experience in an academic medical center environment.
  • Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.
  • Prior experience with evaluating and treating pediatric deaf and hard of hearing patients.

License/Certification:

  • Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
