Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

The HR Generalist 2 coordinates and oversees the entire new hire onboarding process from the beginning to the end, meeting both the needs of the new hire and hiring manager. They serve as the primary contact to new hires and guide them through the entire hire process. They also support and provide guidance on other transactions during the employee life cycle, including assignment changes and terminations.

The HR Generalist 2 also serves as Tier 1 support to new hires, employees, and department managers on issues related to Human Resources transactions, payroll, benefits, timekeeping, pay rates, and related matters. They partner closely with other HR partners to assist in responding to questions and resolving issues for employees.

UCSF HR Shared Services consists of multiple operational and transactional teams that assist staff across the organization. These teams partner closely with UCSF Campus Departments and the Health System, HR Talent Management and People Wellness to assist and deliver a comprehensive array of HR services designed to attract, develop and retain diverse workforce talent.

40 Yes Manages the onboarding process in BrassRing, following the recruitment cycle

15 Yes Tier 1 Support for new/transferring employees; Department Managers/Assistants, other HR staff

10 Yes Performs tasks in various modules of HRIS system(s): Work Experience, Position Management, Licensure/Certification, etc.

5 Yes Generates New Hire/Transfer welcome Letter; applies additional language as needed per case

5 Yes New Hire/Transfer Case Review; application of university policies and procedures as it relates to the circumstances of the action

Analyze/Interpret Criteria applicable to the Case of the New Hire/Transfer

(Work Experience Calculation/Seniority Date Changes)

5 Yes Responsible for launching various integration packages for onboarding/transfers

5 Yes Employment Action Case (Position Changes: Home Department/Percentage, Funding Changes, Extensions, Reports to Changes, Etc.)

5 Yes New Hire Paperwork - 1) Facilitates Onboarding visit where HR forms are completed 2) Launches DocuSign for Signature and ensures that all required new hire forms and documents are complete and accurate

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related subject and/or equivalent experience or training
  • 1 year of applicable work experience in Human Resources or customer service related role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe and ChatGPT
  • Ability to effectively utilize multiple systems, including web-based systems to perform daily work
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information in a discrete and professional manner
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask and manage deadlines
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to utilize an applicant tracking or Human Resources System

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
