Position description

Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery - Vascular Surgeon
Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery
Department of Surgery
University of California, San Francisco

The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time, academic surgeon to provide clinical care and to develop a productive research program. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Vascular Surgery by the time of hire. Applicants must have completed an accredited vascular surgery fellowship or integrated residency program by the time of hire. Candidates must be well-trained in both open and endovascular interventions. Applicants' materials must list current, eligible, and/or pending qualifications upon submission. The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized research program in vascular disease prevention or treatment, which may be basic, translational, clinical, or health services in nature. This is an outstanding opportunity for an aspiring surgeon-scientist to develop an academic career, targeting recent graduates or early career faculty.

Clinical responsibilities include a primary role staffing the clinical vascular service at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center (SFVAMC) and participating in the divisional call schedule that includes weekday/weekend coverage across campuses. Adequate protected time and support will be provided for the development of an independently funded research program, dependent on the candidate's specific goals and qualifications.

Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department's undergraduate and graduate level educational programs, including providing scheduled lectures as part of the division's didactic educational programs.

The UCSF Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for patients with vascular disorders including peripheral artery disease, aortic aneurysm/dissection, carotid artery disease, hemodialysis access and venous disease. Faculty treat a diverse population of patients at the main UCSF campus, the SFVAMC, several affiliated hospitals, and outreach clinics across the Bay Area. Our division is noted for its longstanding research and training programs that have broadly impacted the specialty.

UC San Francisco seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, and community services that have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence.
