Lecturer in Bioengineering: Academic Year 2025-2026 (Anticipated)

The Bioengineering department in the School of Engineering anticipates hiring full and/or part-time lecturer positions to teach the following courses for Academic Year 2025-2026:

BIOE 021: Introduction to Computing with Python
BIOE 106: Cell Biology and Physiology
BIOE 115: Biomechanics
BIOE 130: Biothermodynamics
BIOE 140: Biomolecular Engineering
BIOE 145: Bioprocess Engineering
Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (minimum 2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant or reader.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Advanced degree in Computer Science & Engineering or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level are required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching that demonstrates broad experience working with students of different abilities, ethnic backgrounds, and educational attainment.
