Position Summary
Early Care and Education (ECE) operates an award-winning, accredited, nationally recognized program that is highly effective in supporting the recruitment and retention of faculty, students and staff who are key to the mission of the University. Our name portrays the scope of our services to campus families, giving emphasis to the importance of early education experiences in light of knowledge gained from current brain development research.
Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. 1-3 years In the field of early childhood education (Preferred)
Ability to speak English to be understood by young children, staff and parents and as required for food preparation (Required)
Ability to read English text of children's stories (Required)
Ability to use kitchen utensils and appliances safely and appropriately for preparation of meals (Preferred)
Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding set-up and supervision of activities and preparation of food (Required)
Ability to relate to children ages two months to six years old as required for supervision of indoor and outdoor activities, toileting, meals, snacks and nap time (Required)
Ability to act quickly and appropriately in hazardous situations to prevent accidents and to provide first aid in emergency situations (Required)
Ability to direct classroom staff in overall program in the absence of Lead and Assistant Lead teachers (Required)
Ability to work cooperatively with other staff in total child care program (Required)
Skill in resolving conflict with children and adults (Required)
Physical ability to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds when necessary (frequent lifting) (Required)
Certified in pediatric CPR and first aid (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Associate's Degree Child Development (Preferred)
12 ECE units (Required)
Knowledge of child development theory and best practices in early childhood group care and education (Required)
CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing - Associate Teacher-level teaching (or higher) permit (Required)
Special Conditions for Employment
Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
Age Requirement: Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
TB Test: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory TB test.
Tdap Pertussis Vaccine: The position is subject to providing evidence of inoculation within 10 years.
CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
