Description
This position is responsible for performing a variety of cook duties for patients, staff, vistors, and special functions at the Ronald Reagan Hospital cafeteria and kitchen. Tasks include setting up service lines, pre-plating foods, preparation of meals, and serving customers.
You will be responsible for:
- Reviewing menus, production sheets, recipes, and inventory to verify needs for the day
- Cook meat, fowl, fish by baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming
- Make soups, sauces, stews, and casseroles
- Clean, peel, cut, slice, dice, weigh and measure ingredients for recipes
- Plate and/or garnish food for attractive presentation
- Maintain all foods and ingredients at safe temperatures; record data
- Maintain food stations sanitary and organized
Qualifications
- ServSafe food handler card or equivalent safe food handling certification highly preferred.
- Experience cooking in a professional setting.
- Experience utilizing a variety of professional kitchen and cooking equipment.
- Ability to work in a standing position for a long period of time; stretch, bend, walk, stoop and reach repetitively.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or wet areas.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to conform to dress code per sanitation policies.
- Ability to use strong cleaning solutions.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend standard English.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.
- Flexible work schedule and ability to adjust to work load.
