What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Microbiology position at University of California - Los Angeles Health?
Join us as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Microbiology lab at the Brentwood Annex. You will assist with various technical procedures in the Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, and Parasitology sections. Primary responsibilities include performing urine cultures, blood cultures, gram stains, fungal stains, and BD Max PCR, as well as troubleshooting laboratory instruments and reagent preparation.
Salary Range: $56.54 - $75.34/hour
*Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (CLS) or Clinical Microbiology Scientist (CMS).
*Bachelor's degree.
*Strong educational background and advanced training in Microbiology.
*Previous technical and practical experience in Bacteriology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, and/or Parasitology.
*Demonstrated working knowledge of current instrumentation, including BD Bactec FX, bioMerieux Vitek 2 and MS systems, centrifuges, water baths, analytical balance, fume hood, biological safety cabinet, and incubator.
*Proficient computer skills.
*Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.
