Under direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, administer academic and staff personnel matters for the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Serve as a key resource on personnel matters providing analysis, policy interpretation, advice and counsel to managers and supervisors and all members of the department. Facilitate compliance to system-wide, campus, departmental policies and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreements. Strong, independent judgment, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills required. Broad knowledge of human resource practices, as well as an understanding of local, state and federal employment and labor laws also required




Your Role on the Team

As a seasoned experienced professional with a comprehensive understanding of UC, campus, and unit academic practices, policies, and procedures, resolves moderate to complex academic HR-related issues affecting a broad range of academic titles in imaginative and practical ways


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Ability to work independently and following through on assignments and deadlines with minimal direction.
  • Skills to analyze basic data sets and ability to generate reports.
  • Working knowledge of computer software in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Bachelors of Arts/ Bachelor of Science in related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience with Bachelors of Arts/ Bachelor of Science in related field or equivalent experience.


Preferred:

  • Ability to work with detail and prioritize workload to ensure job completion with competing deadlines.
  • Previous working knowledge/experience in an academic medical practice setting.
  • Prior experience working on operational issues related to with physician scheduling, resident and medical student rotations, general clinic patient throughput.
  • Prior experience working with a fellowship program and interaction with ACGME.
  • Basic understanding of fellowship application cycle and timeline.
  • Has proven ability to coordinate activities in collaboration with Fellowship Program Director.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain, exchange course of action and use tact to negotiate with physicians, other divisions and departments and outside vendors verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of University of California basic policies and procedure standards.
