The UC Irvine Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) Orange County's only state and federally funded Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and is internationally recognized for its research accomplishments in age-related brain disorders. The Institute is composed of faculty and staff from multiple Departments and Schools, ranging from basic laboratory scientists to physician investigators, with a common goal of research discovery to improve the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and cure of age-related brain diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease. For more than 30 years, UCI MIND has been at the forefront of Alzheimer's disease research. It is home to one of 37 Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers (ADRC) funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and one of 10 California Alzheimer's Disease Centers funded by the California Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

Uses advanced concepts to create, develop, implement and manage comprehensive outreach strategies and plans, including short and long-range program planning to increase recruitment and enrollment of participants in the UCI MIND Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced development coordinator to perform full range of outreach activities, including establishing and maintaining relationships with community organizations, developing and implementing promotional strategies and educational materials to promote awareness within the health care community and the general public. Has a full understanding of industry practices and resolves a wide range of issues and resolves unique and complex issues among others. Responsibilities include comprehensive promotion, outreach and educational activities. Projects are typically complex and require a high degree of expertise. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Leads specialized and relevant community outreach initiatives, collaborating with community partners to facilitate diverse participant enrollment and retention in UCI MIND's research studies, including clinical trials. Executes pointed educational and recruitment strategies to boost referrals from diverse communities. Identify and address recruitment challenges while raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease research. Conducts regular analysis of recruitment and engagement efforts, adjusting strategies and content as necessary to optimize effectiveness.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of outreach and marketing strategies relevant to program.
  • Thorough knowledge of outreach best practices.
  • Advanced ability to work collaboratively with leaders, physicians, clinical and support staff.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze data and report findings.
  • Ability to conduct research and produce advanced educational materials.
  • Ability to develop and lead educational sessions with diverse clinical groups.
  • Ability to deal with confidential matters with tact and diplomacy.
  • Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of current community educational programs and trends.
  • Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations / courses to meet organizational needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field such as: Psychology, Neuroscience, Neuroimaging, Public Health, Social Work, or related Health or Social Sciences
  • 1-3 years: At least 2 years of demonstrated community-based research related experience. Developing and leading impactful educational outreach initiatives, including designing and delivering engaging presentations.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience adapting content and approach for various cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with diverse clinical and specialized groups
  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with research participants, community members, colleagues, and collaborators.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish or another language (oral, reading, and writing proficiency)

Special Conditions:

  • Ability to commute or travel to community and/or education engagements (<50 miles distances from the UCI Campus)
  • Ability to transport and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 30lbs to and from engagement sites (with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Ability to traverse between various engagement sites and navigate indoor and outdoor event venues throughout the shift
  • Occasional and/or seasonal evening and weekend events

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $65,700.00- $90,000.00 (Annual). Conditions of Employment:
