The UC Davis IRB Administration unit administers and provides ethical and regulatory review of research involving human subjects conducted by UC Davis employees, students, faculty and agents and external researchers who rely on UC Davis for IRB services. The UC Davis IRB Administration conducts review of research, supports four Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), executes reliance agreements, and educates stakeholders on relevant regulations, policies and processes.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Associate Director of IRB Administration, use research compliance professional concepts to support human subjects research protocol submission and review process. Provide program support for IRB Administration as well as for the IRB members the unit supports. Review and/or pre-review minimal risk, expedited, or standard procedure research applications. Schedule recurring meetings and support IRB management calendaring. Act as resource to IRB Administration and IRB members for purchasing, travel, and entertainment expenses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Academic training in the biological or social sciences, humanities, or bioethics.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Basic knowledge of relevant federal (FDA, OHRP, NIH), state, organizational and system policies, and human subjects research concepts.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex research protocols and related materials.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (clarity, sentence / paragraph construction and grammar, et cetera).
- Ability to work in a team-oriented setting, to prioritize work, to work independently when needed, and to follow through on routine assignments using sound decision-making techniques. Time management skills and the flexibility to accommodate changing priorities in unit.
- Problem solving skills; multi- task, work with frequent interruptions, effective listener. Excellent customer service skills, pleasant, helpful, and patient.
- Proficiency with computers, including the ability to operate personal computer software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience taking meeting minutes that contain regulated research determinations.
- Experience conducting or reviewing human subjects research.
- Experience with KFS, purchasing (including AggieBuy and PCARD), accounts payable and receivables, and bookkeeping.
- Experience with Aggie Travel.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Knowledge of OHRP, FDA, NIH and other regulations for protections of human subjects.
- Familiarity with campus issues, policies, procedures, and practices in the area of human subjects research.
- Knowledge of policy and procedures regarding entertainment and travel reimbursements.
