Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, urgent care, laboratory, pharmacy, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 200 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), and IACS (International Association for Counseling Services). Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Medical Assistant certification or letter from supervising physician/podiatrist.
- Previous experience working in a medical back office setting, using standard equipment and recognizing the abnormal.
- Experience in administering intramuscular injections.
- Skills to handle emergency situations with composure and professionalism.
- Customer service and communication skills to interact with a wide variety of individuals including patients, co-workers and the general public.
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
- Computer skills including EMR, medical office practice software and scanners.
- Skills to organize and prioritize workload for timely completion with frequent interruptions.
- Handwriting and spelling skills to complete forms.
- Skills to be thorough and accurate with attention to detail and perform mathematical calculations.
