Job Summary
Under supervision provide administrative support to undergraduate program and graduate group advisors in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy. Primarily responsible for course scheduling, monitoring course enrollments, managing grade submission, managing course evaluations, maintaining advising appointment calendars in OASIS, and coordinating DESII instructional reporting. Also serves as initial contact for academic information, reviewing and preparing applications for review, providing PTA and CRNs, maintaining class wait lists, managing add/drop procedures and class grade sheets. This position assists with peer advisor selection and training and maintaining student records. This position also engages in some general department administrative support functions such as textbook order, coordinating regalia, room scheduling, travel scheduling, event planning and coordination, preparing and assisting with purchasing goods and services and assisting with and reconciling travel and entertainment reports.

The Department of Environmental Science and Policy (DESP) consists of 24 faculty members, 13 professors emeriti, and over 100 academic staff, postdoctoral, graduate or undergraduate student researchers. Departmental researchers are helping to improve environmental policies, protect biodiversity, understand ecological processes, and foster an interdisciplinary perspective on environmental and natural resource issues.
DESP has two undergraduate majors, Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning (EPAP), and Environmental Science and Management (ESM). EPAP majors emphasize the social and political aspects of environmental issues, while ESM majors emphasize the ecological aspects of environmental issues. However, both majors take classes in both natural and social sciences, and thus are educated in subjects at the intersection between society and the environment.
This is a critical position in the delivery of administrative support for undergraduate programs in the Department of Environmental Science (DESP).On average, this position serves approximately 600 undergraduate majors in ESP.

Qualifications

- Minimum Education Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience planning events of various levels of complexity and managing calendars and scheduling
- Experience composing and editing documents and correspondence for accuracy, consistency of format and grammar and professional appearance and style while using standard business software applications
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders; and solid analytical and mathematical skills to research, reconcile, and resolve basic accounting issues, as well as analyze data and prepare reports.
- Experience handling student and confidential records with a strong understanding of data privacy and accuracy
- Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
