The Facilities Management Specialist 3 serves as the primary building manager for the Resnick Center for Agricultural Innovation (RCAI), providing experienced oversight of building operations, space planning, safety coordination, and facilities-related services. The Resnick Center for Agricultural Innovation is located in Wasco, CA.

Under the general direction of the CA&ES Dean’s Office Chief Administrative Officer, the position independently manages and coordinates operational activities for a complex multidisciplinary research and teaching facility. Responsibilities include space allocation planning, building logistics, facilities maintenance coordination, safety and access procedures, laboratory compliance coordination, emergency preparedness, move coordination, and development of building policies and procedures.

The position analyzes operational issues of diverse scope, develops solutions, and collaborates with campus partners including Facilities Management, Design & Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and academic departments to ensure the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with university policies.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training in facilities management, lab management, policy development, and agricultural research facilities, with knowledge of practices and procedures relating to facility maintenance and safety
  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience coordinating facilities operations, building management, infrastructure support, lab management, or related operational programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of building operations, space planning, safety procedures, and facilities coordination practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities and respond to facilities issues effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with faculty, staff, contractors, and campus service providers.
  • Ability to analyze operational issues, determine solutions, and implement procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of architectural, engineering, or building systems concepts relevant to facilities operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced coursework or degree in facilities management, lab management, engineering, architecture, or related field.
  • Experience supporting research or laboratory facilities in a university or institutional environment.
  • Experience coordinating building operations in newly constructed or recently commissioned facilities.
  • Experience coordinating laboratory facilities and supporting laboratory safety compliance.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and facilities service providers in an operational building environment.
  • Knowledge of campus facilities processes and regulatory requirements.

Department Overview

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CA&ES) Dean's Office provides administrative leadership and operational support for research, teaching, and outreach programs across multiple departments, centers, and field facilities. The office supports academic and operational units by coordinating facilities planning, infrastructure development, safety programs, and operational services that enable research and teaching activities.

This position provides operational oversight for the Resnick Center for Agricultural Innovation, a major interdisciplinary research facility supporting laboratory research, collaborative programs, and educational activities. The Building Manager serves as the primary liaison between building occupants and campus service providers, ensuring safe operations, effective space utilization, and coordination of maintenance, safety, and facilities services for the building.
