What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor for 2-week summer Introduction to Economics course position at University of California, Berkeley?
We are seeking an instructor for a 2-week summer Introduction to Economics course that runs July 20-31. The course is non-credit bearing, in-person, and takes place on the U.C. Berkeley campus.
The students are highly-motivated international high school students who intend to major in Economics. The course is designed to prepare them for that future goal by giving them a taste of first-year undergraduate education in the field.
The course involves 25 contact hours with students with classes held Monday - Friday during the two week period; classes will be held in the mornings or afternoons (to be determined). Other requirements include participating in program preparation meetings, collaborating with the Program Director and co-instructor on curricular content, developing lesson plans and materials, guiding students' capstone projects and providing formative feedback to students. Instructors should have a graduate-level degree and prior classroom experience relevant to the teaching of economics (ideally having worked with non-native speakers of English)
Pay is commensurate with visiting summer instructors teaching credit-bearing courses at U.C. Berkeley.
