Data Science Undergraduate Studies (DSUS) offers a range of academic, co-curricular and enrichment programs-including the Data Science major and minor-with a wide-reaching impact both across UC Berkeley and beyond. Designed in collaboration with faculty from across Berkeley, Data Science invests students with deep technical knowledge, expertise in how to apply that
knowledge in a field of their choosing, and an understanding of the social and human contexts and ethical implications of how data are collected, analyzed, and used. This combination positions graduates to help inform and develop solutions to a range of pressing challenges, from adapting industry to a new world of data, to amplifying learning in education, to helping communities recover from disaster.
DSUS is part of the College of Computing, Data Science and Society (CDSS), which strives to develop, implement and share high-quality, ethics-oriented and accessible curricula, educating a diverse student body in data science, computing and statistics. Core to the college is an understanding of how computing and data science affect equality, equity, and opportunity-and the capacity to respond to social challenges.
The Community College Programs Coordinator provides key program support for Community College Outreach programs housed within Data Science Undergraduate Studies (DSUS). This role supports Principal Investigators (PIs) and DSUS leadership with multiple complex projects that constitute external efforts concerning relationships with California Community College and CSU partners. The incumbent works with leadership to manage contacts and relationships, helps to schedule and plan meetings, works on documentation and planning professional development and manages reporting requirements for grant funded projects.
**This position is designated hybrid, with an expectation of 2-3 days per week of on campus work.**

Responsibilities
50% Project management for CDSS projects that are related to California Learning Lab grants including:
- Create a project map to plan deliverables.
- Communicating project expectations with project partners.
- Organization of meetings for Cohort Coordinator programming.
- Supporting pathways to transfers via Data 8 adoption.
- Coordination of modules and OER projects for Data 6 and Modules.
- Tracking projects, measuring impacts, contributing to reporting to program officers.
- Communicate with funders and Sponsored Projects around fund disbursement.
- Program coordination for efforts around California Alliance for Data Science Education, engaging faculty from across UC, CSU, CCC sectors.
- Planning, logistics, agenda-setting, and documentation for CADSE meetings, held quarterly, 3x online and 1X in person, ranging from 30-70 participants.
- Organizing efforts to develop documentation ( e.g. on understanding higher Ed articulation system ) of interest to all CADSE participants.
- Tracking efforts, creating and maintaining a database of classes, programs, faculty in order to raise visibility of individual efforts to introduce Data Science Education, create community across
- Annual reporting on CADSE activities and goals.
- Organize Professional Development and training for data science instruction at community colleges, including planning and venue logistics as well as providing input on agenda and structure of PD training.
- This may include PD trainings in summer and PD trainings via visit to partner institutions, travel 4-5x per year to partner institutions (eg in Southern California or Central Valley).
- Work with the DSUS curriculum and outreach team to develop and maintain documentation, training materials, adapting and refreshing existing materials every year.
- Work with the technology team to develop materials on using Jupyter hub technology flow.
- Tracking and metrics of impact across CLL outreach projects.
- Provide inputs to grant reporting and strategic planning.
- Spreadsheet, Database tracking of projects and participation.
- Keeps abreast of student trends in higher education, particularly low-income and first generation and transfer college populations.
- Participates in professional development activities to continually evolve best practices and stays abreast of innovative and research based practices.
- Disseminates best practices and associated student outcomes to the campus community and at conferences.
- Serves as a trainer and content expert on issues related to first-generation to college, low-income, immigrant and underrepresented students.
- Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Analytical / problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Knowledge of Data Science educational approaches including Python, R, Jupyter and Github.
- Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
- Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations /courses to meet organizational needs.
