The UC Berkeley School of Public Health was founded in 1943. We are fueled by a deep commitment to social and environmental justice, scientific inquiry and discovery, and community-engaged public health action. The School's mission is to improve population health, especially for the most vulnerable. The Admissions & Recruitment Coordinator works as a critical member of the Student Services Team to help carry out programs for student outreach, recruitment, and admissions for the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. This position works closely with a diverse pool of applicants and people interested in pursuing a public health degree. This person will help educate interested parties about admissions and financial aid requirements, policies, and processes related to the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. The Coordinator applies professional admissions and recruitment concepts for a variety of degree programs served by the School of Public Health. They assist the Director of Admissions & Recruitment with the coordination of the admissions processes for the on-campus graduate programs. They advise applicants regarding the necessary application procedures (SOPHAS, Slate, etc.) and entrance requirements for the School of Public Health in person, virtually, or via phone. The Coordinator advises applicants regarding the status of their application and about missing documents; reviews domestic and international transcripts for degree eligibility; initiates and arranges student recruitment visits to Berkeley. They maintain a database of current and potential recruitment contacts, and coordinate logistics for various graduate recruitment fairs and other local, regional, and national recruitment events. They assist the Director of Admissions & Recruitment with exporting applicant data and integrating it with Slate and the UC Berkeley Student Information System portal. They produce data reports on student enrollment and demographics as needed. The Coordinator troubleshoots issues with SOPHAS and Slate. They participate in the planning and execution of new student orientation, admitted students day, graduate recruitment fairs and other admissions related and recruitment events; this also includes commencement and other events as determined by Student Services team and completes other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Plans visits to schools, schedules and makes presentations, interviews, and follow-up visits. Identifies potential students, and provides information about higher education generally and about BPH specifically.
Provides accurate information, advise and guidance on admissions requirements, prerequisite courses, school programs and curricula, specific financial aid criteria, BPH or Graduate Division fellowships and other resources for financial aid and career opportunities to prospective students
Assesses admissions eligibility of traditional and international applicants. This includes evaluating transcripts and international records for eligibility. May also include researching foreign educational systems as needed and analyzing academic records from foreign secondary and tertiary institutions (including study abroad records).
Processes admissions decisions through university systems, including Slate and SOPHAS, and troubleshoots as liaison with department programs and Graduate Division on any complex admissions issues.
Clean up admissions data and communicates admissions updates with programs.
Plans, manages, implements and evaluates events to enhance recruitment and yield, including Spring Visit Day, New Student Orientation, diversity initiative events, mentoring programs, electronic communications, and similar activities.
Engages in careen and professional development opportunities.
Works with Director of Admissions on mapping admissions and recruitment processes and other student services related processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student populations in the areas of outreach, admissions and recruitment.
Ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
Comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges/universities and specifically comprehensive knowledge and/or ability to quickly learn at UC Berkeley SPH, and/or other campus colleges and schools.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
Ability to develop effective recruiting materials and recruit underrepresented minority and first generation prospective students.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of faculty, staff, students, and external constituencies, both verbally and in writing.
Public speaking experience
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Strong skills in data analyses and complex problem-solving, aligned with a strong customer service orientation.
