The role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager – Analysis and Reporting to join the University of Bristol within Finance Services. This is a great opportunity to shape how financial insight is used across a complex organisation and make a visible strategic impact.
This senior, high-impact role combines leadership of statutory financial reporting with responsibility for driving Business Intelligence (BI) and high-quality management information across the Finance Division. You’ll help ensure the University’s key returns are accurate, timely and efficient, while improving how insight is designed, governed and used to support strategic decision-making.
You’ll lead Finance’s BI capability and manage a small team (currently two analyst roles), working closely with stakeholders across Finance and the wider University.

What will you be doing?
- Lead delivery and improvement of key statutory returns (TRAC, HEBCIS and the Annual Finance Return).
- Produce the Value for Money report as part of the Annual Report, ensuring clear, robust insight for senior stakeholders.
- Drive Finance’s BI capability, delivering clear dashboards and reporting that support better decision‑
- Set and maintain effective governance and prioritisation for Finance reporting.
- Manage and develop a small team (currently two analyst roles).
- You’re a qualified accountant (or have equivalent relevant experience).
- You have excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- You have experience with financial reporting and modern BI tools.
- You are a confident communicator, able to influence and present to non‑finance audiences.
