Coordinator of Clinical Practice and Student Services

Position Description Summary/Purpose:

The Coordinator of Clinical Practice and Student Services maintains and builds strong relationships with students, site supervisors and administrators; fulfills responsibilities of the position; ensures regulatory compliance in all clinical areas; and participates in University and community service.

Key Responsibilities

Student Advising and Support

• Advise students on academic and program requirements and provide support with course- and faculty-related concerns.
• Collaborate with university offices regarding student accommodation, dispositions, certification requirements, and other student needs.
• Support students in lesson and unit planning, assessment, instructional strategies, and preparation for clinical experiences.
• Provide ongoing guidance and problem-solving support to students throughout clinical placements including but not limited to scheduling conflicts, grading conflicts, and transcript and bursar issues.
• Collaborate with the Certification officer and the Registrar to certify candidates for graduation.

Clinical Practice and Placements

• Schedule courses for multiple locations for spring, summer and fall semesters.
• Collaborate with school districts and clinical partners to identify and confirm appropriate placements, including specialized or multiple placements when required.
• Recruit, interview, contract, orient, and support clinical supervisors based on program needs.
• Organize and administer enrollment resolution for each course during each registration period.
• Facilitate supervisor meetings and coordinate communication regarding student progress, evaluations, program expectations, and clinical placement concerns.
• Coordinate student teaching and clinical practice processes, including applications, eligibility review, placements, and required documentation.
• Support supervisors with assessment systems and technology, and maintain required records including but not limited to student, placement, and evaluation records.
• Maintain the Clinical Practice Student Teacher Handbook, and clearly communicate program requirements and expectations to students and partners.

Orientations, Workshops, and Seminars

• Plan and facilitate student teaching orientations, pre-service workshops, and seminars.
• Provide programming on clinical practice expectations, instructional strategies, technology, special education, assessment, and related topics.
• Monitor student progress and support completion of required assessments, portfolios, and other clinical practice requirements.

Assessment and Program Administration

• Monitor completion of student teaching and field-experience assessments and requirements.
• Assess program and effectively use data to inform programmatic decisions.
• Collaborate with program leadership, faculty, university offices, and school partners to support effective delivery of clinical practice and student services.
• Provide information and reports to leadership and university committees as requested.
• Assist with policy and procedure updates.
• Ensure student compliance with background checks, state certification requirements, and institutional accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Education or a related field.
• A minimum of five years of experience teaching in public or private schools.
• Current Certification in Education.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with educator program approval or educator licensing.
• Demonstrated successful teamwork and conflict resolution.
• Knowledge of current trends and practices in the field.
• Demonstrated ability in MS Office programs and Internet applications.
