Summary of Job Duties:Basic Functions

Under the direction of the Dean of Career and Workforce Education, this full-time, 12-month faculty position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Industrial Technology across on-ground, hybrid, and online formats. Beyond instruction, this position is essential for curriculum development, student learning assessment, and engagement with industry partners to align educational programs with current technological trends.



Position Duties

75% Classroom and Laboratory Instruction

Focuses on delivering high-quality instruction in Industrial Technology. This includes the development and assessment of student learning outcomes to ensure competency in both credit and non-credit coursework depending on program needs. The instructor utilizes the college's student and learning management systems to deliver content effectively across multiple platforms while maintaining a safe and productive workplace learning environment.



15% Student Retention and Recruitment

Directs efforts toward student success by implementing retention strategies designed to identify and support students at risk of withdrawing. The instructor maintains regular office hours to provide a consistent point of contact for academic support and intervention. Additionally, this position actively leads and participates in recruitment activities to promote the Industrial Technology programs within the community and local high schools, ensuring a steady pipeline of qualified applicants.



5% Industry Alignment

Focuses on building and maintaining relationships with industry partners to ensure the program curriculum remains aligned with current technological trends and workforce needs. The instructor engages with regional employers to verify that the skills being taught meet the demands of the modern industrial sector.



5% Professional Development and College Service

Maintains professional expertise by staying current with regulatory requirements, best practices, and teaching methodologies through ongoing professional development and faculty workshops. This duty includes participating in institutional governance through division and department meetings and committee assignments. The instructor also serves on Program Advisory Committees and engages in service activities that support the institution and the local community.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge

Industrial Technology Concepts: Comprehensive knowledge of advanced manufacturing, CNC operation, industrial maintenance, basic welding, electricity, and robotics.

Safety & Compliance: Thorough understanding of workplace safety principles and troubleshooting techniques within an industrial setting.

Educational Technology: Knowledge of online, hybrid, and on-ground instructional delivery methods and the utilization of learning management systems (LMS).

Curriculum Alignment: Understanding of how to align academic curricula with current industry trends and technological advancements.

Skills

Instructional Delivery: Skilled in delivering high-quality technical instruction and conducting assessments of student learning.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) and design, as well as the operation of automated industrial equipment.

Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary for teaching and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

Industry Engagement: Ability to professionally engage with industry partners to foster collaborative relationships.

Abilities

Adaptability: Ability to teach across various formats (online, hybrid, on-ground) and handle both credit and non-credit coursework.

Student-Centered Support: Ability to perform duties that support student retention and program completion goals.

Governance Participation: Ability to effectively participate in faculty senate and other institutional governance committees.

Instructional Technology Utilization: Ability to utilize technology effectively in a teaching environment to enhance student learning.Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with a minimum of seven years of documented industrial technology, maintenance, or welding experience with responsibility for shop operations, equipment use, and technical decisions, OR an associate's degree or higher in Industrial Technology, Welding, or a closely related field with a minimum of four years of documented industry experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and utilize technology in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Technology, Engineering, Welding, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Teaching experience in higher education, specifically in a community college setting or corporate training experience.
