Summary of Job Duties:

Basic Functions

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or the Facilities Director, the maintenance worker performs a wide range of tasks to ensure that college facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves hands-on work across various trades, general cleaning, grounds and event support.

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for buildings and grounds maintenance and general labor activities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

Position Duties

90% - Primary Responsibilities

The employee performs general lawn maintenance, operates medium to light equipment and hand tools, assists with general construction tasks, completes routine housekeeping responsibilities, and carries out basic remodeling and construction practices as needed.




10% - Additional Responsibilities

The employee performs other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.






Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



Knowledge



Knowledge of methods and practices in skilled and unskilled trades. Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on various types of groundskeeping tools and equipment. Ability to receive, assign, and coordinate work activities.

Ability to operate and perform routine maintenance on various types of grounds and facilities management tools and equipment.




Abilities

Ability to receive, assign and coordinate work activities to complete daily tasks.

Maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners with daily or weekly interactions.


Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • 1 -3 years of job related experience.
Must maintain active driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certificates in skilled trades such as, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical.
Three or more years of progressively job-related experience.
