Summary of Job Duties :

The Associate Director of Accounting at the Arkansas Alumni Association is responsible for managing daily financial operations which includes : accounts payable, cash receiving, general ledger maintenance, and membership processing. They are also responsible for the month end closing entries and the monthly reconciliation process. They will assist with the monthly generation of financial statements for the Arkansas Alumni Association, Inc. for both internal and external groups. This position reports to the Director of Finance and supervises two fiscal support analysts.

Teamwork, flexibility and a “can do” attitude is essential for working with volunteers and other Association staff members.

This position requires evening and weekend work in addition to the ability to travel.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

At least two years of experience in accounting or finance

At least two years of experience with Accounts Payable and Cash receiving

At least two years of experience leading an account reconciliation and monthly close process

At least one year of experience in a supervisory role

Preferred Qualifications :

Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education

Three years or more of experience in accounting or finance

Three years or more of experience with Accounts Payable and Cash receiving

Three years or more of experience in leading an account reconciliation and monthly close process

Experience in a non-profit organization

Two years or more of experience in a supervisory role

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of the mission, vision and values of the University of Arkansas and the Arkansas Alumni Association

Knowledge and understanding of accounting practices

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well with all kinds of audiences

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to represent the university in a professional manner

Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time in order to meet project timelines

Ability to travel and work irregular hours as needed

Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

Be willing to accept supervision and work well with others

Fosters an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued

Ability to be dependable and punctual
