Kenai Peninsula College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Education Program Coordinator to join our Learning Center team. This role is crucial in overseeing the coordination and administration of adult education programs, ensuring they meet the needs of our diverse community. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape for adult learners, fostering an environment that promotes growth and lifelong learning.

As the Adult Education Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties that include overseeing class scheduling, ensuring accurate data reporting, and monitoring grant expenditures. Your role will involve supporting the recruitment and training of instructors, assisting in strategic program development, and collaborating with leadership to achieve program goals. A significant aspect of this position involves managing grants, which requires familiarity with grant administration and federal reporting requirements. You will also design and deliver instruction in Basic English, Math, ESL, and life skills, utilizing a variety of instructional materials to meet diverse learner needs. In the absence of the LC Director, you will act as the administrator and assist with hiring and training new instructors, ensuring the smooth operation of the Learning Center.

The ideal candidate will possess an advanced understanding of adult learning theory and educational barriers, along with proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation. Strong leadership and instructional abilities are essential, as is the capacity to manage and report on grants effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, cultural competence, and a commitment to equitable educational access are crucial for success in this role. Candidates should have relevant experience in program coordination, adult education, or a related field, along with three years of college coursework and three years of progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Familiarity with grants administration and federal reporting requirements is particularly important for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years college coursework in any discipline, and three years progressively responsible experience related to program coordination, adult education, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Kenai Peninsula College campus in Soldotna; and, will require travel to Anchorage twice a year, occasional travel to Homer and other areas on the Peninsula. This is a term, exempt, staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. It will be 40 hours per week for 10 months, and 25 hours per week for 2 months (June and July). UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, starting at $27.95 based on education and experience.
