Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and expand animal breeding colonies according to study protocols.
- Provide routine animal care, maintenance and animal husbandry.
- Set up and track the performance of breeding pairs, document the birth, size, and sex of litters, and wean litters.
- Ensure appropriate record keeping for the colony.
- Handle, restrain, and perform routine animal techniques on animals according to study protocols.
- Collect, enter, summarize and analyze data.
- Maintain safe, clean and organized laboratory environment and areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in a related field OR High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Pharmacology, or a closely related field
- Recent mouse work experience including mouse colony maintenance, mouse handling and restraint, and performing routine procedures like tail vein blood drawing, injections are a plus.
- Candidate must be proficient with use of personal computer and software packages needed to analyze and present data acquired through this lab work.
