This position will serve as an administrative lead in the Chair's Office leadership team. The Department of Surgery is dynamic department that consists of approximately 650 faculty, staff ,and trainees in 9 divisions. The Department of Surgery Chair's office supports the tripartite mission of research, education and clinical service for all of these individuals. This position will operate with a high degree of independence, to direct department staff as needed to ensure completion of major projects and tasks.

This position will operate with a high degree of independence, to direct department staff as needed to ensure completion of major projects and tasks.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Functions as a strategic leader, confidante, and thought partner with Chair/VC/EA. Oversees DOS strategic initiatives (Division reviews, DOS annual review, state of department, External/Internal reviews, leadership retreats, wellness initiatives, etc).
- Prepares special reports and documents for the Chair/VC/EA.Serve as a project manager to work with others to accomplish special projects within the DOS.
- This includes development of timelines, SOPs, guides, policies and procedures.
- Identify gaps/problems in the Chair's office. Develops and implements solutions, processes, and guidelines to address gaps.
- Oversees and directs administrative support, communication team, project management, strategic recruitment, and leadership development teams for the DOS. This includes recruitment and oversight for positions that fulfill the Vice Chair roles (i.e. Diversity, Wellness, Research, Clinical,etc.) as needed, as well as day to day management of DOS Communication programs and initiatives.
- Works with DOS leadership to facilitate clear communication within the Chair's Office and throughout DOS.
- To direct department staff as needed to ensure completion of major projects and tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Prior experience as a high level administrative leader within a department or unit.
- Business, Hospital Management, Communications, Business Strategy preferred.
Education
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten (10) years of experience required.
- Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
