The Director of the Alys Stephens Center (ASC) is an entrepreneurial leader who works in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to create an innovative and inspired vision for ASC and achieve success in its curatorial, audience engagement, and fiscal goals. The scope of responsibility includes maximizing contributed and earned revenue, providing staff leadership and mentorship, leading strategic short- and long-range planning, and cultivating integrated audience, university, student, and community relationships. Maintains a high professional profile at UAB, in the community, and at a national level of cultural presenting organizations, building relationships that benefit ASC and UAB in terms of its finances, audience development, and national visibility for the Center's increased regional and educational impact and creative programming.
This position serves as an administrative officer of the Alys Stephens Center (ASC) which involves having knowledge of all events and construction/ renovation projects within the facility, providing ASC programming budget projections, and creating an overall theme of direction for the ASC programming season. To assist and communicate as the liaison of ASC for a variety of stakeholders including UAB faculty and staff, community members, local institutions and organizations, as well as the regional, national, and international visual art community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operations, budgetary management, staff supervision, and overall creative direction of the ASC.
- Communicates effectively and systematically with all UAB Visual and Performing Arts Departments to further ASC initiatives.
- Works closely with arts staff to conceive, develop, and execute ASC performances and related educational programming with national/international visibility/appeal while also engaging a diverse audience of arts donors, university faculty and students, and regional/local institutions and communities.
- Serves as the liaison for ASC to a variety of stakeholders including UAB faculty and staff, community members, local institutions and organizations, as well as the regional, national, and international visual art community.
- Works closely with Directors and staff within UAB Visual and Performing Arts to identify opportunities for collaboration and implement the broader vision for the Arts at UAB.
- Works closely with UAB Arts Senior Director of Development on donor cultivation and fundraising initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Annual Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $83,000.00 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Management, Administration, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Music, Artist hospitality, or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Salary : $75,000 - $83,000
