PROGRAM COORDINATOR I

General Responsibilities:
The Senior Communications Specialist develops and executes communication projects with minimal supervision. Building on strong writing and digital expertise, this role proactively identifies opportunities to advance the unit’s reputation through storytelling and multi-channel touchpoints. The Senior Communications Specialist manages complex assignments and ensures content strategies align with both unit and institutional priorities. This position has increased responsibilities in terms of independence and quality of output. This role will require a higher level of expertise so that work is produced with minimal revisions and in greater alignment with strategic objectives. This position requires someone who can take full ownership of projects and deliver polished, high-impact communications with limited guidance. Also, due to the creation of a new Center and the rapid growth of our programs (such as Live HealthSmart Alabama), the expectations and needs of the communications team have grown, requiring more advanced skills and autonomy to maintain quality and timeliness.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, and two (2) years of related experience required. Demonstrated experience in marketing and/or communications, including, but not limited to, social media, video, web, writing, editing, and content creation, is preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.

- Writing (spotlights, articles, blogs, letters, reports, etc.)
- Social media (content creation, tracking, reporting)
- Graphic Design and basic video production
- Websites (editing, creating using Joomla/WordPress, etc.)
- Project Management (emails, administrative, meetings)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, and two (2) years of related experience required.
