Seeking a Neonatal APP to work in a fast-paced environment, offering an academic health care setting. We offer a variety of shift options, ranging from 10 hour, 12 hour up to 24 hour coverage, including Day/Night, Nights, weekends and holiday hours. The NNP will assess, implement, and evaluate appropriate plan of care for patients. This includes diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, in accordance with the scope of practice of an Neonatal APP and current standard of care. Neonatal APP will manage care for a caseload of medically complex neonates in both the acute phase and transition to home as well as participate in deliveries. Must be able to demonstrate competencies defined in Neonatal APP responsibilities in providing age-appropriate care to neonates from birth to the age of two years. Neonatal APP will be expected to initiate and participate in education, research and professional activities that contribute to improving patient care, Neonatal APP program operation, or the Neonatal APPs own professional development.

A Brief Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing quality care for patients and increasing patient access and satisfaction. Standard tasks to be performed by an Advanced Practice Provider as specified by the Ohio State Board of Medicine or Nursing and UH entity specific Medical Bylaws.

  • Collaborates w/other health care providers in an interdisciplinary approach to provide care to the patient and family 
  • Contributes to the educational development of staff, patients, family and self 
  • Demonstrates progressive leadership and effective management 
  • Provides education through role modeling and in-services to meet identified learning needs and to promote professionalism 
  • Advances own professional development through self-directed learning, continuing education and participation in peer review 

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education

  • (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing with advanced practice certification specific to the neonatal population  (Required)
  • Master's Degree from an accredited PA educational program (Required)

 

Work Experience

  • 1 years as an Advanced Practice Provider (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships. (Required proficiency)
  • Computer skills to access patient medical data from UHHS mainframe. (Required proficiency)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. (Required proficiency)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Neonatal APP for a large healthcare system
  • 2 years of experience working as a NICU RN
  • PA with neonatal experience will be considered

 

Licenses and Certifications

 

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required)
  • Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NP) (Required)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • NRP provider certification
  • Current APRN License (Required)

 

Physician Assistant:

  • Physician Assistant (PA) (Required) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required) and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
  • NRP provider certification
  • Passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (Required) and
  • Practice with a supervising physician (Required Upon Hire) and
  • Maintain national PA Certification (Required)
