Music Therapist

Position Summary/Essential Duties:1. Assess, develop, implement and evaluate Music Therapy interventions to address the age-specific psychosocial and physiological needs of hospitalized adults and their families2. Plan and implement music therapy groups for inpatients/outpatients/staff3. Evaluate and mentor practicum and internship students as appropriate4. Professional growth, information sharing and collaboration 5. Create and implement innovative ways to secure funding

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

• Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy (Required) or
• Member American Music Therapy Association (Preferred)

• less than 1 year Completed music therapy internship and eligible for MTBC exam (Required)

• Demonstrate competence with a variety of musical instruments and skills, i.e., transposition, improvisation, song writing, instrumental/vocal arranging, drumming, and adapting instruments and therapeutic music interventions to a variety of culturally, ethnically, racially diverse, medically, developmentally and physiologically impaired patients. (Required proficiency)
• Knowledge of research design and methodology, patient assessment and evaluation techniques. (Required proficiency)
• Strong interest in multi-disciplinary team approach. (Required proficiency)
• Basic computer knowledge (Required proficiency)

• Board Certification (MT-BC) or pending (Required within 90 Days)
