DescriptionPosition Summary
This position supervises the implementation and execution of compliance program elements and is responsible for promoting a culture of compliance at all UH hospitals, doctor's offices, or other facilities.
Essential Functions- Through direct or matrixed reporting relationships, responsible for the overall direction, performance and supervision of the Billing, Coding, and Documentation (“BCD”) team members as well as assigned program areas. Accountable for the teams’ deliverables, ensuring the achievement of team goals and objectives in addition to individual goals and objectives.
- Mentors, coaches and develops direct reports, and acts as a role model and resource. Holds staff accountable for high performance against job descriptions, policies & procedures, controls and processes, as well as organizational standards and policies. Completes performance reviews, recommends and initiates personnel actions such as interviewing, hiring, performance correction, and terminations.
- Assists BCD team members in implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving UH’s compliance program at assigned UH entities, facilities, practices, divisions, departments, groups, or functions.
- Provide compliance direction and guidance to assigned UH entities, facilities, practices, divisions, departments, groups, or functions to ensure employees have the resources needed to conduct their business with the highest level of compliance and integrity.
- Administrate the data analytics databases, including the build and maintenance of same.
- Organizing and managing large and varied data sets, combining different data sets to support data needs for analysis supporting auditing functions (including risk isolation) and communicating data findings through the use of data visualization and detailed reports.
- Compiling and organizing health care data including data from different sources for analysis
- Supports the data requirements required for the performance of risk assessments, monitoring, testing, and process analyses to continuously evaluate risk areas and priorities to guide new compliance activities and continuous improvement efforts.
- Works closely with the Compliance Department Centers of Expertise (COEs) and the Compliance Partners to address specific compliance issues, risk, projects, and activities.
- Develops, assists in, or directs, the development of the required data components for complex compliance investigations and work with operational leaders and assigned Compliance team members to determine the appropriate handling of such issues.
- Supervise the assignment and progression of audits efficiently and effectively. Ensure the analysis of audit finding including whether the allegation is substantiated or requires regulatory reporting as well as implementation of appropriate risk mitigation or corrective action activities to address substantiated allegations.
- Supervise the assignment of all Work Plan data-related items as well as additional audits and reviews that may present through inquiry or investigation, internal or external.
- Contribute to special projects related to the UH Compliance & Ethics Program at the direction of and in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and the Director of Provider Compliance (DPC).
- Collaborates with operational leaders and teams to change and improve business processes to support and mitigate risks to the organization and its patients. Supports the data needs to monitor implementation of solutions to eliminate or minimize non-compliance.
- Initiate and maintain positive relationships with key operational and clinical partners and co-workers.
- Stay current with relevant federal and state compliance related laws and regulations and modify the compliance program accordingly to remain compliant, as well as consistent with industry best practices.
