Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CST) - PRN101 Truman Medical CenterJob LocationUniversity Health 1 (UH1)Kansas City, MissouriThe specialized surgical technologist gathers and prepares instruments and equipment for specialized surgical procedures such as but not limited to robotic surgical procedures; provides quality and safety to the patient guided by principles of surgical asepsis; anticipates the surgeon's needs at the field for a variety of complex procedures; is flexible and works well under ever changing conditions. The surgical technologist scrubs a wide variety of different procedures related to robotic procedures and has knowledge and skill to adapt to changes in the patient's condition.
Minimum Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED.
- If certification is required for specialty area, must maintain active status to remain in position, or possesses demonstrated knowledge and experience in specialty surgery procedures; i.e. robotics, joint replacement, etc
- Current BLS and must remain current to retain position.
- Ability to stand for the majority of the work time; sometimes wearing a 10 lb. x-ray apron for several hours at a time; lifting 50lbs. pushing/pulling 125lbs.,frequent lifting 1-25 lb. sterile trays during the course of the day.
- Good communication and written skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and changing conditions; flexibility to adapt to scheduling changes and changes in patient condition. Good time management skills and ability to be self-directed.
