Job Description
University Cancer & Blood Center is currently hiring for a PRN Phone Triage RN.
Job Duties Include
- Evaluate symptoms over the phone (e.g., nausea, fever, pain) to gauge urgency.
- Offer advice on managing side effects and direct patients to appropriate care.
- Use triage algorithms to decide if a patient needs urgent, same-day care at UCBC or other emergency services.
- Help patients avoid unnecessary emergency room or urgent care trips.
- Responding to messages from patients regarding their medications, symptoms, etc.
- Working with providers to obtain refills, medications changes, etc.
- Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Strong understanding of oncology, cancer treatments, and their side effects.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and phone skills.
- Familiarity with established triage protocols, like those from the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
