The physician leader will provide direct patient care clinical time and serve as the Medical Director of UBMD Internal Medicine. This role will provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership. Reporting to the Section Chief of Primary Care and Division Chief of General Internal Medicine and working in close partnership with UBMD leadership, and Kaleida Health leadership, the Medical Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing the academic, clinical, and financial missions of the practice plan. This role serves as a key liaison between faculty physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, UBMD administration, and health system partners.

- Provide clinical leadership to ensure high quality, patient-centered care within the Hertel Elmwood Internal Medicine Center.
- Lead initiatives to improve patient satisfaction, access, continuity, and outcomes.
- Conduct Quality Improvement projects in the clinic with residents.
- Promote evidence-based practice and adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards
- Support and advance the Department of Medicine’s educational mission, including undergraduate medical education, residency, and fellowship training.
- Collaborate closely with the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director to ensure a high-quality ambulatory training environment.
- Serve as a role model and mentor for learners, faculty, and advanced practice providers
- Provide oversight and supervision of primary care clinical operations and care teams.
- Support faculty physicians and advanced practice providers through mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Partner with hospital and UBMD leadership to align clinical supervision with institutional priorities, quality goals, and workforce planning.
