  • Provide vision, leadership, and coordination for all first-year experience initiatives in the division of Student Life that promote student success and retention.
  • Administer the student affairs orientation program to include planning, development of overall policy and the operations of the program.
  • Lead the vision and implementation of out-of-class programs designed to offer students opportunities to-develop intellectually, socially, culturally and personally.
  • Align departmental strategies with institutional goals for persistence, graduation, and equity in outcomes.
  • Cultivate relationships with various campus constituencies and work collaboratively with these partners to meet department, division and university objectives around students personal and academic success. This includes establishing relationships with faculty and academic affairs staff to identify high impact practices associated with student success and retention. Work collaboratively to support students emotional and physical health and wellness needs.
  • Partner with, Undergraduate Education, Enrollment Management, Student Retention, Student Life, Advising, and other campus units to integrate first-year initiatives across the student lifecycle incorporating academic, social, financial, career, and well-being.
  • Serve on university committees related to student success, retention, and new student programs.
  • Foster faculty and staff engagement in first-year initiatives through communication, training, and shared programming.

  • Hire, train, and supervise professional, graduate, and student staff supporting orientation and transition programs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide professional development opportunities and mentorship for team members.

  • Establish measurable outcomes for all programs and initiatives.
  • Use assessment data, predictive analytics, and student feedback to improve programs and demonstrate impact.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership showing contributions to retention and student success goals.

  • Manage departmental budgets with transparency and fiscal responsibility.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support first-year initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate use of resources to achieve program goals.
