Position Summary
The Junior Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the organization’s financial operations. This position is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position assists in training and guidance of other personnel within the department and serves as back up to their roles.
Expected Hours of Work
This position is full time and considered an exempt employee. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm with the occasional need for work on Saturdays (during month and year end financial closings) and additional overtime, as needed.

Essential Functions
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
- Receive and record daily cash receipts
- Record daily cash disbursements
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist with financial reporting, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and analysis.
- Participate in departmental initiatives and process improvement projects.
- Prepare documentation of accounting process and controls.
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping role
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment
