University Academy Charter High School seeks a Permanent Substitute Teacher / School Aide for the 2022-2023 school year. Position is salaried with benefits and starts ASAP.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 60 College Credits
- Background Check
- NJ Substitute Teacher License
Applicants must submit a cover letter, copy of substitute license, and college transcript along with resume.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cover classes as a substitute teacher in all subjects, as assigned. Assignments may change on a daily basis or cover a single teacher for an extended period.
- Run cool down sessions or In School Suspensions for students who need intervention
- Assist the Director of Guidance and Support Service as well as social workers during interventions
- Give teachers relief during teaching and study halls
- Assist in the SAT Pullout Program
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (AS NEEDED)
- Assist Head Hall Monitors and administration
- Enforce school policies using intervention strategies such as giving students choices/positive reinforcement
- Be a positive role model who can contribute to helping enhance school culture
- Patrol and monitor hallways and other facilities of the school and gymnasium
- Escort students to the bathroom, offices, school store, gymnasium, and other locations
- Monitor locker rooms
- Check for student compliance with hall passes, uniforms, electronic devices, vandalism etc. and report all incidents on web application
- Monitor lunch privilege roster and Physical Education class rosters to assure that only certain students with permission leave the building
- Monitor cafeteria and backyard area during student lunchtime, remind students to clean up after themselves and assist with cleaning when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by school administrators.
- Update student phone numbers and addresses on PowerSchool
- Chaperone field trips
- Reach out to alumni for updated contact information
- Assist in mailings
- Assist during the Schoolwide Quite Time/Meditation Program
- Successfully participate in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
OTHER SPECIAL SKILLS
- Ability to work and interact with individuals, especially students, at all levels of the organization.
- Must be alert, reliable, and trustworthy
- Ability to memorize students' names quickly
- Computer skills for logging in incidents
- Ability to help with complex student problems/issues
- Identifying behavioral patterns and recommending creative solutions
- Knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.

Pay: From $26,000.00 per year
