Job Duties

The Office of Online & Professional Learning Resources (OPLR) is seeking an Enrollment Adviser (EA) to join its student recruitment team. This team works collaboratively with multiple Universities of Wisconsin campus partners participating in the UW Online Collaboratives and UW Flexible Option programs. The prospective student audience is mainly comprised of non-traditional, online students seeking either a degree program, certificate, or individual courses.

The EA will be responsible for proactively following up on leads generated through marketing campaigns, using various channels to recruit online students to collaborative and flexible option degree programs and certificates. The EA represents OPLR to prospective students with the goal of attracting and advising a qualified student body to meet recruitment goals and guide prospective students through the application process in a student-centered way.

The Enrollment Adviser’s work is performed using technology that engages prospective students mainly via phone, email, text, and conferencing software (both Teams and Zoom). All communications with prospective students (outside of the occasional in-person education fair) are conducted through these various modes.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Recruit online prospective students who inquire about OPLR supported degree programs, certificates and online courses
  • Follow-up on leads generated through the marketing department, meeting identified metrics for contacts, advising calls, and follow through to application
  • Use prescribed recruitment plan to contact leads at various stages in the recruitment cycle, assist in determining fit and eligibility, and update student records accordingly
  • Develop and sustain strong, trust-based relationships with prospective students by building rapport and providing consistent, personalized communication throughout the engagement process
  • Provide excellent customer service and advising guidance to prospective students; respond to inquiries with accurate information about programs and processes and execute seamless handoff to admissions
  • Collaborate with colleagues in marketing, admissions, program management, and student services to obtain up-to-date information, provide colleagues with feedback from prospective students, and work through individual student situations
  • Serve as the primary EA for several programs – attend monthly program meetings, co-present virtual information sessions, maintain internal documentation, and keep the team abreast of changes
