Description
Universal Truck Service LLC, Trailer Shop Division, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the Midwest, is looking to hire skilled Trailer Mechanic/Technician's for a NEW 2nd shift trailer technician and 2nd Shift Working Lead/Foreman at our New Brighton facility. Trailer Mechanic/Technicians will be responsible for the timely repairs and maintenance of heavy-duty fleet and private owner vehicles.
Position Overview
2nd Trailer Mechanic/Technicians & 2nd Shift Working Lead Foreman Trailer Tech will be responsible for timely repairs and maintenance of all classes of trailers to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Position requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to repairs and diagnostics of trailers, dollies, and switchers.
2nd Shift Foreman position available, will be responsible for working with 1st Shift Foreman on handing work off for 2nd shift, quality of repairs, efficiency of repairs, paperwork completed of other techs
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to trailers, dollies, and switchers.
Perform services to anti-lock brakes, wheel end components, electric brakes, disc brakes, ABS brake system. Perform services to swing doors and roll up doors. Lift gate (Tuck under & Rail). Body and roof repair or replacement. Frame components and flooring.
Perform services to suspensions (Air ride & Spring ride)
Perform services to pneumatic air systems, electrical, wiring and pintle hitches.
Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety
documentation required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as
company policies/procedures
Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles Interact with clients through both email and phone as necessary
Perform other duties as required
Key Competencies & Education
At least 3 years of experience
Must have valid Driver's License- Class C
Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and email
Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc. Must provide own hand tools & toolbox
Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases, or other irritants
Ability to move and position heavy objects
Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles
Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
Job Type: Full-time, Hours: 1pm to 11:30pm
4 /10 shift Mon. - Thurs.
Pay: $28.00 $36.00 per hour
Plus $2:00 shift differential
