SHIPPER

SUMMARY: 

The primary function is to accurately select, count, package, and prepare product for shipment by performing the following duties:

DUTIES:

• Pull orders and write up shortages with notification to proper departments
• Prepare items for shipment which may include making shipping containers, placing product in container, add protective filler, close and label container, obtain pallet, place items on pallet, strap and wrap for shipment as well as preparing any necessary Bill of Lading paperwork
• Use a ‘double check’ process to ensure correct products are being shipped to correct customer
• Maintain equipment required for the shipping process, which includes shipping carts, pallet jack, shrink wrapper, banding equipment, computers, printers, other shipping department equipment
• Coordinates, or works with: Department Supervisor, Production Manager, Customer Sales Representatives, Flexo Rewind, Warehouse, Finishing and other shipping personnel
• Use electronic processing equipment to weigh and apply postage and packing slips
• Preparation and documentation of HazMat labeling
• Preparation of custom international shipping documentation
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must have strong basic computer and keyboarding skills 
• Prefer 1 year shipping experience in manufacturing.   
• Prefer forklift experience.

• Language Skills:  Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general information pertaining to the job.  Must be able to prepare reports required for the job.  Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Mathematical Skills:  Must be able to perform basic math skills
• Reasoning Ability:  Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Must have the ability to apply information, and variables, learned from one task, or project, to other similar situations.
• Quality Skills: Be familiar with basic ideas and principles behind quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC & 5 Why’s) and other quality tools that can help improve production in your work area.

EQUIPMENT USED:

                   Box taping machine, banding tools, shrink wrapper, shipping carts, & pallet jacks, computer, printers, calculator, telephone, copier, fax, and other equipment as needed.
