Position Summary
The Production Clerk is responsible for preparing work orders and processing paperwork to meet the requirements of shipping, receiving, storage, and warehousing. This role becomes proficient in the section's operator duties and fills in for other operators as needed to ensure orders ship on time, including loading and unloading trucks, and picking, packing, transferring, repackaging, and relabeling chemicals. Employees who perform well have the potential for growth and advancement within other areas of the facility.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Process office paperwork, including printing pick sheets, labels, and bills of lading, and validating orders.
· Process work orders and inventory changes.
· Check orders for accuracy.
· Answer incoming telephone calls and assist customers with shipments.
· Respond to a high volume of communications daily.
· Act as a backup as needed to keep orders shipping on time.
· Load and unload trucks using forklifts.
· Pick, pack, transfer, repack, and relabel chemicals.
· Inspect completed work for accuracy and completeness, and resolve inconsistencies.
· Maintain a clean area and proper stocking levels of supplies in the work area.
· Offer feedback on work status and request new tasks as current ones are completed.
· Take part in cycle counts of inventory.
· Follow standard operating procedures and comply with applicable rules and regulations.
· Carry out all instructions from supervisors efficiently.
· Improve overall warehouse appearance by completing housekeeping and maintenance checklists.
· Cross-train and fill in for other staff members as necessary.
· Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed.
· Ensure quality objectives and shipping deadlines are met.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
· Proficient in the use of a computer
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Basic knowledge of operating warehouse machinery and equipment
· Ability to work in an organized fashion with close attention to detail
· Familiarity with hazardous materials transportation, storage, and disposal regulations
· Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner
Education & Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED
· Valid driver's license required
· Experience in a cGMP, regulated food, pharma, or chemical facility preferred
· Experience in warehousing, inventory control, production, or equipment/forklift maintenance preferred
· Experience working with chemicals preferred
Pay: $17.00 per hour
