2nd Shift Molding Process Technician

We are a large part molder based in Middlefield OH with customers in the medical, laboratory & diagnostic, manufacturing, and retail industries, we specialize in gas assist molding, structural foam molding and straight injection molding and are looking for an Injection Molding Process Technician to join our 2nd shift team.

Job Summary:

The Process Technician is responsible for setup and optimization of molding processes during production runs. Using defined parameters and principles of scientific molding, they apply strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to ensure the process consistently produces parts that meet established quality standards. Throughout the run, the Process Technician monitors performance, adjusts parameters as needed, and documents all process changes.

This role works closely with material handlers and operators, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to address all aspects of the molding process and drive continuous improvement across operations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Set up Press Operating Parameters – Working from defined parameters, apply knowledge of scientific molding and cause and effect to optimize the process to produce product that conforms to established criteria. Maintain the process throughout the production run to continue to optimize parameters and record process revisions
• Set Up – set injection molds per established procedures, safely utilizing forklifts, overhead cranes, and ancillary equipment.
• Troubleshoot Molding Process and Machine Issues – Determine root cause and provide alternative solutions and make repairs and/or adjustments to correct molding process issues (flash, short-shots, sink, splay, burn, etc.) for maximum efficiency and minimum scrap levels
• Process Optimization – Change settings on process controllers to regulate process parameters in order to ensure process optimization according to customer and machine specifications
• Achieve Optimal Processing Parameters – Maintain cycle efficiency in order to achieve optimal production run output. Drive cycle time improvements.
• ISO Compliance – Ensure that the Molding Department remains in compliance with the requirements of the Universal Plastics quality management system during production.
• Improvement, Preventive and Corrective Actions – Actively participate in continuous improvement, corrective and preventive action, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
• Housekeeping - Maintain housekeeping of the defined maintenance area per defined requirements.
• Training – Direct operators, setup techs, material handlers as needed to ensure optimal production run output.
• 2nd Shift Differential Pay

Education and Experience:

• 3–5 years direct experience in an injection molding processor role.
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and setup sheets
• Ability to multi-task
• Strong attention to detail
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Physical Skills and Requirements:

• Physically capable of standing and walking for long periods
• Lifting 50-55 pounds regularly
• Performing manual tasks like bending, stooping, crouching, and reaching
