POSITION TITLE:

  • Tech II, Lighting

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the highly skilled, discipline specific technical skills needed for the successful operation and maintenance of lighting elements for assigned Entertainment venues, projects, or events, to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience. Can often working independently and/or reporting to a lead or above.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Lighting Lead in installation, operation and strike of lighting equipment as designed per Event or Project.
  • Function as a point of knowledge for the assigned project, event or venue while assisting with installing and applying electrical theory.
  • Assist with the installation for an assigned project, event or venue while applying intermediate level knowledge of electrical theory. Interpret lighting plots as designed and implement complex lighting systems. Facilitate and troubleshoot per direction of Lead without supervision while applying basic knowledge of electrical theory and load limitation.
  • Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and restock of lighting equipment as returned to the warehouse post project or event. Accountable for assisting in maintaining venue or event specific inventory of all technical equipment. Cable cleaning, testing and construction as well as soldering without lead sign off.
  • Operate pre-programmed consoles based on direction from Lead.
  • Responsible for effectively disseminating necessary information pertaining to the technical operation of the assigned project, event or venue to Lead as well as other team members via FYIs, emails, and face to face conversations.
  • Pull and prep gear per pull list created by lead Master Electrician and begin to learn the creation of pull lists.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Technical school, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 year of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Intermediate knowledge of moving lights, LED & conventional fixtures, cables & connectors, power distribution, dimmers and lighting accessories.
  • Ability to follow instructions from a Crew Lead and execute without supervision.
  • Ability to assist Crew Lead in supervision of an installation crew.
  • Basic knowledge of networking.
  • Intermediate ability to troubleshoot and ability to measure continuity and voltage with a meter.
  • Intermediate understanding of signal flow including power and DMX.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 5 year of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Basic ability to read lighting plots.
  • Advanced operational knowledge of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, sit down forklift, high reach, scissor lift, man basket, and order picker, (warehouse).
  • Ability to drive large box trucks up to 26’, (non CDL).

POSITION TITLE:

  • Tech III, Lighting

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the technical skills needed for the successful operation of lighting elements for assigned Entertainment venue, project, or event, to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for completing assigned task from Lead Tech up to and including installation of cabling, hanging and positioning of lighting fixtures and simple equipment maintenance Assist with the installation for an assigned project, event or venue while applying basic knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Use ability to understand a plot, with explanation, in order to complete an install. This will include installing correct gel, connecting the right cable and addressing intelligent fixtures.
  • Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and restock of lighting equipment as returned to the warehouse post project or event. Accountable for assisting in maintaining venue or event specific inventory of all technical equipment. Cable cleaning, testing and construction as well as soldering with sign off from a lead.
  • Communicates internally regarding technical problems, issues, and/or concerns.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Technical school, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience within the assigned technical discipline.
  • Fundamental knowledge of live show/theatrical lighting equipment, signal flow, operation of spotlights, DMX and computer skills including Microsoft office.
  • Familiarity and ability to identify moving lights, LED & conventional fixtures, cables & connectors, power distribution, dimmers and lighting accessories.
  • Ability to follow instructions from a Crew Lead and execute.
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plots.
  • Advanced operational knowledge of heavy equipment including, but not limited to, sit down forklift, high reach, scissor lift, man basket, and order picker, (warehouse).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and ability to measure continuity and voltage with a meter.

Preferred:

  • Minimum 2 years within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to drive large box trucks up to 26’, (non CDL).
