We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Manager to oversee multiple job sites and lead field crews while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and production.
The Area Manager is responsible for supervising and managing multiple field crews across various states, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to contract specifications. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on field experience, and the ability to manage complex industrial coating and repair projects in water and wastewater treatment facilities.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring extensive travel and active participation in field operations alongside crews.
- Lead, train, supervise, and mentor multiple field crews across multi-state projects
- Promote and enforce company safety standards and OSHA compliance
- Conduct toolbox talks and coordinate advanced safety training with the Safety Director
- Manage daily project operations including production, scheduling, quality control, inspections, and safety
- Work alongside crews performing industrial painting and coating tasks including:
- Spraying
- Rolling and brushing
- Troweling
- Sandblasting and water blasting
- Pressure washing
- Scaffolding erection
- General labor duties
- Review project specifications and product data sheets with Foremen
- Monitor labor hours, project costs, materials, and equipment usage
- Prepare and submit progress reports, cost tracking, jobsite photos, and documentation
- Coordinate material orders, shipping, and onsite deliveries
- Serve as liaison between project managers, inspectors, engineers, contractors, and owners
- Attend project meetings, conference calls, staff meetings, and industry events
- Ensure proper maintenance and use of company-issued equipment and vehicles
- Assist with permits, licenses, inspections, and compliance documentation
- Train crews on power tools, equipment operation, and company procedures
- Maintain accurate administrative records including:
- Timekeeping
- Man-hour tracking
- Expense coding
- Vehicle mileage logs
- Jobsite inspection reports
- Ensure all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards are followed
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, technical plans, and project specifications
- Minimum experience working in water and wastewater treatment facilities required
- Strong background in industrial painting, coatings, concrete repair, or related construction fields
- Proven leadership experience managing multiple crews and projects
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and industrial coatings practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project-related software
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 80%) including overnight and extended stays
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends and after-hours training
- Valid driver’s license required
- Bilingual skills are a plus
