Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse to provide expert patient care in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the CVICU, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and physiological parameters using advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Epic and Cerner to ensure timely intervention.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Assist with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, tube feeding management, suturing, and ventilator support while ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with acute conditions like trauma, infectious disease, or post-operative recovery in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments during triage and emergency situations; provide critical care response in accordance with critical care (emergency response procedures) standards.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards such as ICD-10/ICD-9.
- Support discharge planning and family education for patients requiring long-term care or hospice & palliative medicine services.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).and NIHSS
- Extensive critical care experience within ICU or CVICU settings; experience working in trauma centers or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical documentation standards is essential.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology; experience with cardiac catheterization and telemetry monitoring preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform invasive procedures such as IV insertion, venipuncture, catheter care, and sterile processing techniques.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Additional skills in pain management, infection control practices, laboratory specimen collection/processing, ostomy care, and ICU-specific protocols will be considered assets.
