What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Universal Design Associates, Inc.?
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in structural engineering and a passion for creating safe, efficient, and innovative designs. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing structural portions of projects from conception to completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Structural)
- Must have or be pursuing Fundamentals of Engineering license (F.E.)
- Professional Engineer license (P.E.) preferred but not required
- Structural Engineering license (S.E.) a plus but not required
- Experience in structural design and analysis preferred but not required
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software preferred but not required (e.g., Robot, ENERCALC, STAAD.Pro, or similar)
- Proficiency in CAD software preferred but not required (e.g., AutoCAD and/or Revit)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred but not required (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Strong understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations preferred but not required (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC, AISI, NDS, ASCE, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze structural components for buildings, including but not limited to foundations, beams, columns, walls, and slabs.
- Review and evaluate existing structures.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and codes.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.
- Review shop drawings, perform site observations, and provide technical support during construction.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
