What are the responsibilities and job description for the Proposal Engineer position at Universal Blower Pac, Inc?
Universal Blower Pac is seeking a Proposal Engineer to support our sales team by developing technical proposals, system configurations, and preliminary designs for municipal and industrial projects. This role ensures proposals are competitive, accurate, and technically sound to support successful project execution.
We invest in employee growth and will sponsor and mentor this engineer through training and development toward obtaining a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop design proposals, bid packages, and layouts for projects
- Assist sales staff with technology evaluations, system selections, and cost estimates
- Ensure proposals meet industry standards (ASME, IEEE, NEC, hazardous classifications)
- Conduct performance analyses (blower sizing, startup torque, waste heat, etc.)
- Provide technical guidance on electrical/control systems (VFDs, Modbus, Profibus, EtherNet/IP)
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to support new products and campaigns
- Prepare technical submittals and client presentations
- Travel occasionally to tradeshows, site visits, and customer meetings
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience:
- Background in sales, proposal engineering, or product development
- Exposure to water/wastewater treatment, material handling, or biogas industries
