Our Operating Room is a busy 9 suite department that performs a variety of surgical cases in the following specialty areas: Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Robotics, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Podiatry, and Plastics. Responsibilities
- To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care at Registered Nurse skill level, in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care, with a minimum of assistance.
- To function as primary care leader, associate, or charge nurse so that optimum quality of patient care is maintained according to the philosophy and objectives of Allen Hospital.
- To exercise accountability responsibility, authority, autonomy, and act as a role model and resource person with expanded theory and expertise.
- Perform pre and/or post-operative critical care for surgical patients.
- Maintains department competencies related to proper care of patients.
- Responsible for managing equipment and responding to emergencies, signaling concerns to Physicians within a timely manner. Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately.
- Responsible for sedation administration and recognizing and assessing the need for reversal and airway management.
- Ability to flex schedule and adapt to changes in workflow.
- Able to respond to call as soon as needed, but no later than 30 minutes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing.
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
- Multicultural sensitivity.
- Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
- Customer/patient focused.
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
