Call: Every 3rd weekend, 1 night/week, and 1 holiday/year
As a member of the interdisciplinary care team, the nurse contributes professional knowledge and clinical expertise in the delivery and management of care for patients and their families. Nurses maintain a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code of Ethics, the UnityPoint Health Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model, working collaboratively with all caregivers.
The Endoscopy Unit specializes in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as colonoscopies, EGDs, bronchoscopies, and ERCPs, using flexible, camera-equipped instruments to visualize and treat conditions within internal organs and cavities. The unit is equipped with advanced imaging and monitoring technology and is staffed by skilled physicians, nurses, and technicians dedicated to ensuring patient safety, comfort, and high-quality outcomes.
In addition to scheduled procedures, the team manages urgent cases—including food bolus removals and other emergent interventions—performed in the Endoscopy suite, OR, or ICU as needed. Nurses are certified in BLS, ACLS, and procedural sedation, and collaborate closely with technicians to provide comprehensive 24/7 coverage.

Responsibilities
- Delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required on assigned unit in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.
- Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.
Experience:
- Endoscopy/diagnostics experience preffered
- Diploma from an RN program.
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state.
- Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must possess and maintain ACLS
- Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, internal equity, and other business needs. The salary range listed does not include other forms of compensation which may include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits that may be applicable to this role.
